About Steve Carpenter

Since childhood, I have seen firsthand how deeply the legal system can impact a family. When I was seven, my family endured the heartbreak of a wrongful death case in which the court system failed to deliver the justice we hoped for. Even at that young age, I refused to be silent. Through New York’s Victim’s Assistance program, I exercised my right as a crime survivor to write to the parole board each time the offender came up for parole. Every letter I wrote asking that parole be denied was read in court and became part of the official record. From that point on, I knew my voice—and the law—could make a difference.

By sixth grade, I was already thinking about reforming the system itself. I wrote to President Bill Clinton arguing that our country needed meaningful judicial reform, particularly in criminal law. The President responded, and I was interviewed on local news about the concerns I had raised. Experiences like this put me on a clear path toward a career in law. Today, that early passion has grown into a commitment to guide clients through a complex and often intimidating legal system so they can focus on rebuilding their lives and pursuing their own goals.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Montana State University, and after gaining several years of real-world work experience, I went on to attend the University of Idaho College of Law in Moscow, Idaho.

While in law school, I volunteered as both a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and a Guardian ad Litem (GAL). In these roles, I was appointed by judges to advocate for abused and neglected children and to ensure that they did not get lost in an overburdened legal and social services system or left to languish in inappropriate foster or group homes. CASA and GAL volunteers stay with each case until it is resolved and the child is safe and in a permanent home. That work reinforced my belief that the law is at its best when it protects the most vulnerable.

Today, my practice focuses on Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, Criminal Defense, Workers’ Compensation, Gun Rights, and Estate Planning. I have significant experience with brain injury cases, motor vehicle collisions, and the many medical, financial, and emotional challenges that follow. Whether I am negotiating with insurers, challenging the government’s case, or planning to protect a family’s future, my goal is always the same: to secure the best possible outcome for my clients.

My promise to every client is straightforward: I will represent you with vigor, integrity, and honesty.
